Inaugural Year Impact and Accomplishments
A full month after the inaugural week of our fledgling festival, there’s been just enough space to rest, digest, and calculate impact.
While the mission at hand was made clear from the day I was onboarded in October, our first true Spring planning meeting was on January 17th.
Here’s what we did with those 12 weeks:
Conceptualized a timeless event in, by, and for the City of San Mateo that has the flexibility to evolve alongside our community and its diverse cultural representation
Built a website that reflected cross-generational programming in multiple locations around the city
Worked with City departments, private establishments, youth groups, schools, civic leaders, media
Corralled locals to support the initiative; from individual and business sponsors to attendees and donors
Curated a line-up of programs and talent to cater to a variety of audiences
Increased awareness for the Library, its staff, and services, and made National Library Week a citywide celebration
Opened an opportunity up post-pandemic for community to strengthen
Made it to the front page of the newspaper
Raised funds for the San Mateo Public Library
